Institute of St. Thomas Aquinas in Kyiv

The Institute of St. Thomas Aquinas in Kyiv is an institution that provides higher education in theology. It was founded by Dominican friars in 1992. At that time, it was the Theological College of St. Thomas Aquinas. In 2000, it was affiliated with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) and received its current name.

The Institute’s primary goal is to pass on the heritage of the Christian theological tradition, to educate students in the spirit of commitment to the Truth, to prepare them for evangelization, and to raise the level of awareness of their mission, proactive position and involvement in the life of the Church and society of Ukraine.

The educational activity at the Institute is aimed at providing theoretical, methodological and practical support in order to prepare students for future active service and assistance to the Church. The Institute also creates favorable conditions for interreligious, interconfessional and intercultural dialogue, cultivating mutual understanding between representatives of various religious, social and cultural groups, as well as between the Church and the contemporary world.

The Institute offers various forms of education. All of them provide opportunities for people from different backgrounds, including representatives of denominations actively participating in the life of the Church and those who continue their search for God, wanting to learn about the richness of the Christian Tradition and develop their knowledge and spiritual gifts for the good of Ukrainian society as a whole.

The Institute offers full-time education, part-time studies and other courses. All this creates real meeting places and platforms for discussion. Moreover, the Institute’s activities are not limited to academic and training guidelines. The Institute also organizes guest meetings, workshops, discussion panels and presentations with the participation of leading specialists in the fields of theology, philosophy, psychology, cultural studies and social sciences.

Kairos Publishing House, operating within the Institute, publishes and popularizes theological and philosophical literature. The Institute supports student self-government and initiatives, including the creation of a biblical theater, organizes meetings and cultural events for a wide range of participants, dedicated to contemporary challenges present in the Church and the world.
